Toyota announces pricing for 2005 Matrix

Toronto, Ontario – Toyota announced small price increases for the 2005 Matrix. Pricing begins at $16,925 for the Matrix Base FWD, an increase of $180. The Base 4WD has an MSRP of $22,580. Matrix XR FWD with manual transmission starts at $21,185, while the MSRP for the XR 4WD is $24,550. The XRS FWD, which is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission only, has an MSRP of
$25,560.

The 2005 Matrix gets a new grille, remodelled front bumpers, and clear tail lights. Inside, there is new seat material, redesigned controls, new sliding visors and UV glass, front passenger airbags with status indicator and engine immobilizer. The value of the added equipment on the base model is equivalent to $490, said the company.

Any new Matrix can be customized to the owner’s specifications using the Vehicle Configurator on TCI’s web site, or in a Toyota dealership. One of the most popular options with driving enthusiasts is a supercharger from Toyota Racing Development that can be fitted – or retrofitted – to any Matrix with a 1ZZ-FE engine. The Roots-type supercharger boosts maximum horsepower by up to 30 per cent, to 170 hp at 6,800 rpm.

The Matrix is built at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) facility in Cambridge, Ontario, on the same assembly line as Corolla, with which it shares a platform.
