Torrance, California – Toyota has announced the Prius c, a new subcompact hybrid that will offer fuel efficiency at a lower price. It will debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and go on sale in the spring of 2012.
The Prius c will be sold alongside the third-generation Prius Liftback, new Prius v midsize, and the Prius Plug-In Hybrid, which will also debut next spring.
Unlike other Prius models, which use a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine, the Prius c will use a 1.5-litre engine, along with Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive.
Features will include nine airbags, Bluetooth connectivity, an available Toyota Entune smartphone-based multimedia system.
