Toyota announces Camry Hybrid pricing

Toronto, Ontario – Toyota has announced that the new 2007 Camry Hybrid will start at $31,900.

Powered by Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD), the Camry Hybrid is expected to deliver estimated fuel consumption ratings of 5.7 L/100 km in both city and highway driving. That compares to the Camry four-cylinder model which averages 8.3 L/100 km. The new Camry Hybrid is also designed to exceed the world’s most stringent emissions standards, including California’s Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) regulations.

The Camry uses a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder gasoline engine that develops 147 hp, but with the HSD powertrain, it delivers a V6-equivalent performance of 187 hp. The electric motor is able to deliver maximum torque instantly, for seamless acceleration at a touch of the throttle. It is coupled with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and uses a small, specially-developed 105 kW electric drive motor, with ultra-small inverter and compact 244-volt nickel-metal hydride battery. The Camry Hybrid is expected to go on sale in the Spring.
