Tokyo, Japan – The Japan Automobile Manufacturers’ Association may consider cancelling the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, scheduled for late October, according to a report from Automotive News.

The report said that the decision may hinge on the withdrawal of some non-Japanese automakers in light of the global financial crisis, and the opinion by some Association members that a small show would reflect poorly on the industry. A decision should be made by early next month.

If the show were cancelled, the next Tokyo event would take place in 2011.
