TAG Heuer introduces new motorsport-themed watches

Marin, Switzerland – Premium Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer has introduced four new watch lines, celebrating Mercedes-Benz, the Carrera Panamericana Mexico, and actor Steve McQueen and driver Jeff Gordon. The company has been associated with motorsports for almost a century.
TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz celebrates the alliance between TAG Heuer, McLaren and Mercedes-Benz, in a limited edition of 3,500 pieces. The case is inclined at 45 degrees, with pushbuttons on top, with a bezel engraved with SLR and featuring a tachymeter, like those used by professional racers to calculate speed.

The Carrera Tachymeter Racing watch derives its name from the Carrera Panamericana Mexico race of the 1950s and is the latest in a line of Carrera watches. It will be available in April 2006.
The Monaco Vintage Limited Edition celebrates the late Steve McQueen’s 75th birthday and features the red, white and blue bands of the driving suit that the actor wore in the 1970 film ‘LeMans’. It will be available in a limited edition of 4,000 pieces.
The 2005 Jeff Gordon Special Edition Carrera Automatic incorporates the TAG Heuer logo and Gordon’s Number 24, and features a blue dial with “Jeff Gordon” in yellow and his signature inscribed on the back. The watch is currently available at authorized TAG Heuer retailers for US$1,595.
