Toronto, Ontario – The 2011 Subaru WRX STI has gone on sale, offered for the first time in two body styles: a four-door sedan or four-door hatchback. The 2011 model also features significantly revised suspension tuning and lighter 18-inch wheels for even sharper handling.
Subaru also announced that the 2011 Impreza WRX shares the wide-body design of the WRX STI performance flagship model. The wider body gives the WRX an aggressive road presence and allows wider track dimensions; the model also includes firmer rear subframe bushings and wider 17-inch wheels and tires.
“The continuous evolution and development of the WRX STI is driven by strong, loyal and vocal support from thousands of enthusiast owners of this exciting high-performance vehicle,” said Shiro Ohta, president, chairman and CEO of Subaru Canada. “The 2011 four-door WRX STI (sedan) will expand the appeal of this iconic performance model to a wider range of driving enthusiasts.”
The WRX STI uses a high-boost, 305-horsepower turbocharged and intercooled 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with six-speed manual transmission, and the exclusive Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential version of Subaru’s symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive. The WRX uses a 265-horsepower turbocharged and intercooled 2.5-litre engine.
