Subaru named Honoured Marque for Targa Newfoundland 2007

St. John’s Newfoundland – Subaru has been chosen as the Honoured Marque for the 2007 edition of the Targa Newfoundland road rally, which will take place September 8 to 15. Subaru is the fifth company to be given the designation since the event was started, and the first Asian manufacturer to be so honoured.

As part of the celebration, Subaru competitors entering the 2007 event can claim a 10 per cent discount on their regular entry fee, and will be automatically entered to receive a half-price entry to the 2008 event.

Subaru Canada Inc. will enter a car in the 2007 event, and support competitors with a crew of experts and technicians. The Subaru Canada service crew received the Rick Stryjski Spirit of Targa Award in 2004 and 2005.

Since 2003, Porsche, Mini, Chevrolet and Ford have been designated the event’s Honoured Marque. Targa Newfoundland is one of three internationally recognized Targa motorsports events in the world and is listed on the Federation International de l’Automobile international calendar. It covers more than 2,000 km of Newfoundland’s central and eastern portion, including more than 400 km of closed-road, flat-out Targa Stages.
