Toronto, Ontario – Subaru Canada has introduced the all-new 2008 Impreza WRX, with new styling and choice of body styles. The WRX will be available as a sedan or five-door hatchback.
“In 2001, Subaru changed the face of the compact performance market with the introduction of the first WRX, a car that could deliver turbocharged, rally-bred performance in virtually any driving conditions, and at an accessible price,” says Katsuhiro Yokoyama, president, chairman and CEO of Subaru Canada. “The new WRX retains all those qualities, and builds on them.”
The new WRX’s wheelbase is 9.5 cm longer, and uses a new double-wishbone rear suspension in place of the previous strut-type configuration, which allows for increased cargo area and enhanced ride. The WRX is powered by a 2.5-litre boxer engine that produces 224 hp and 226 lb-ft of torque; while peak power and torque remain unchanged, the engine has been modified to supply more torque at lower revs.
