Subaru Canada breaks ground for new headquarters
Missassauga, Ontario – Today, Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) will break ground for its new Canadian corporate headquarters at Cantay and McLaughlin Roads in Mississauga. The event will be combined with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open Subaru of Mississauga, the new flagship dealer facility nearby. On hand for the event will be Norio Osakabe, president, chairman and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc.; Hideo Wada, senior executive vice president of Subaru’s parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries; Gary Filippini, dealer principal of Subaru of Mississauga; and Mississauga City Councillors Eve Adams and George Carlson.
Construction on the new Subaru headquarters will begin in April, with move-in scheduled for the first quarter of 2005. The new building, at 13,141 square meters (141,453 sq. ft.), will be well over twice as large as the existing corporate headquarters, including two floors of offices, expanded classroom and technical training facilities, and a state-of-the-art warehouse.
“SCI’s new corporate home will be a superb symbol of the future of Subaru,” said Osakabe. “It will be beautiful as well as functional, built to exacting standards of quality, and a safe and comfortable environment for every member of the Subaru family.”
Subaru Canada, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan. Headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, the company markets and distributes Subaru vehicles, parts and accessories through a network of 100 franchised dealers across Canada.
