Subaru Canada breaks ground at new location for top-selling dealership

Mississauga, Ontario – Construction began on the new home of Subaru of Mississauga
yesterday at a groundbreaking ceremony hosted by Subaru Canada, Inc. Present at the
ceremony were Norio Osakabe, chairman, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Mississauga
Mayor Hazel McCallion, and Gary Filippini, recently-appointed general manager of Subaru
of Mississauga. The dealership, presently located in the Erin Mills Auto Mall on Motorway
Boulevard, expects its new facility to be complete in July, 2003.

Subaru of Mississauga is Subaru’s top-volume dealership in Ontario with annual sales of
500 new vehicles – a volume that has more than quadrupled since Subaru of Mississauga
first opened its doors in 1993. It is also SCI’s only corporately-owned retail facility
and, as such, SCI and Filippini intend to make it the marque’s flagship store in Canada.

“It is very fitting to celebrate 30 years of Subaru All-Wheel Drive technology and the
upcoming 10th anniversary of Subaru of Mississauga with this excellent new facility,”
said Osakabe. “This is not only an important sales point, but we have more than 3,000
Subaru owners in the Mississauga area who depend on its exceptional dealership staff for
service. Our goal is to ensure that both current and future owners feel very well taken
care of.”

The new facility will have more than twice the square footage of the existing
dealership and will include more showroom space and customer parking as well as expanded
service facilities.

Subaru Canada, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of
Japan. Headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, the company markets and distributes Subaru
vehicles, parts and accessories through a network of 100 franchised dealers across Canada.
