Star Académie viewers award Toyota Highlander to Marie-Elaine

Montreal, Quebec – Toyota Canada and TVA’s Star Académie are
pleased to announce that fans of Québec’s popular talent-search program have
awarded top prize in the “Clip Toyota” competition to Marie-Elaine Thibert.

Star Académie is Québec’s top-rated television show, drawing 11 million
viewers every week. To celebrate her victory, Toyota presented Marie-Elaine
with a new 2003 Toyota Highlander sport utility vehicle (SUV) immediately
following the announcement.

Marie-Elaine triumphed over six other Star Académie contestants who each
wrote and performed an original 30-second jingle in praise of Toyota’s
Highlander SUV. During the seven-week competition, contenders presented their
songs in a special “Clip Toyota” portion of the program. Viewers then had five
days to go to the Star Académie web site, review all the performances and vote
for their favourite.

“Everyone at Toyota would like to say ‘thank you’ to Marie-Elaine and all
of the contestants who worked hard to make the ‘Clip Toyota’ competition so
exciting,” said Tony Wearing, Group Vice President at Toyota Canada Inc.
“It wasn’t easy selecting only one winner, and
everyone can be proud of the overwhelming response their performances
generated among viewers.”

Fans also had a chance to win. During the contest, viewers could mail
in a newspaper coupon with the name of that week’s “Clip Toyota” competitor
for the chance to win a new Toyota Matrix.
