South African athlete wins 2006 Land Rover G4 Challenge
Gaydon, England – South African athlete Martin Dreyer has won the 2006 Land Rover G4 Challenge, defeating 17 other international athletes in the 28-day, 4×4-based marathon, which spanned four countries on two continents. Dreyer’s prize includes a new Range Rover.
Athletes had to use Land Rovers, kayaks, mountain bikes, rock and rope climbing and orienteering to complete the event, which culminated in a 25-minute Challenge Final staged in a riverbed on the Bolivia/Argentina border. Only the top four scorers made it into the Challenge Final: Dreyer, Kris Janssens of Belgium, Dmitry Timokhin of Russia, and Jean-Baptiste Calais of France. For more information on the event, visit.
