Smart to launch formore in 2006 in U.S.

Boston, Massachusetts – DaimlerChrysler announced that Smart’s first vehicle in the
United States will be the formore four-door utility vehicle, introduced in the 2006
model year. The formore is designed specifically for the North American market.

The U.S. will not receive the smart two seater city coupe, now called the fortwo,
nor the cabrio that will be available in Canada.

The smart formore will be built in a Mercedes-Benz plant in Juiz de Fora, Brazil,
and the company expects to sell approximately 30,000 formores in its first year.

Smart cars are currently available in 31 markets, with global sales of 124,700 units
in 2003.
