Smart sales on the rise
Stuttgart, Germany – Mercedes-Benz reports that sales of its Smart microcar continue to develop, with a 31 per cent increase in deliveries in February. That month’s sales of 10,500 units worldwide brought the total sold in the first two months of 2005 to 21,100, an increase of 40 per cent over the same period last year.
Most of the increase was in the new Forfour four-passenger model, of which 9,600 were delivered in January and February.
The largest increase in overall Smart sales was in Italy, where the brand rose 77 per cent over 2004 with February sales of 8,300 vehicles. The company expects worldwide sales of the Forfour to further increase with the upcoming introduction of the 64 hp “Pure” base version and the tuned, 177 hp Brabus version.
