Toronto, Ontario – Smart Canada has delivered a vehicle to its 20,000th customer, a red ForTwo delivered in Ottawa. The company said it has delivered more than 20,000 units since the launch of the brand in the fall of 2004.

Mercedes-Benz Canada president and CEO Tim Reuss met with Mireille Piché, who purchased her car at Ogilvie Motors in Ottawa. She said she has been a fan of the cars since she saw her first one in Germany in 2002, and as a recent graduate of Concordia University, saved $500 on her purchase through Smart Canada’s Graduate Rebate Program.

Piché received a special congratulatory package that included a commemorative plaque, a museum visit with hotel accommodation and spending money in Montreal, a set of winter tires, and a $500 gas card.

“As the first country to launch the Smart Fortwo in North America in 2004, we were confident that the savvy Canadian consumer would truly appreciate the Smart Fortwo’s compact dimensions and its revolutionary design,” Reuss said. “We also felt that the vehicle’s extremely high fun-to-drive factor would resonate particularly well here in Canada with customers who simply enjoy la joie de vivre. With more than 20,000 open-minded customers in Canada, we are so proud of this diminutive car which has performed in such a big way from coast to coast.”
