Smart approved for U.S. sales

Santa Rosa, California – Zero Air Pollution (ZAP), a California company dedicated to advanced transportation products, has announced the approval of the 2005 model year Smart Car for U.S. sales.

ZAP announced that a petition for import eligibility has been granted by the U.S. Department of Transportation for the Smart Fortwo coupe and cabriolet. The company has announced the first deliveries of Smart cars, customized to American standards by ZAP, to dealers in eight states. The company has a ten-year license on the technology developed by Smart-Automobile LLC to Americanize the European-made Smart for the U.S. marketplace.
