Six Nissan Quest minivans presented to Vancouver senior’s agencies

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver-area Nissan dealers and the Nissan Canada Foundation presented six 2004 Nissan Quest minivans to a group of Vancouver not-for-profit organizations dedicated to helping seniors.

The organizations include Meals On Wheels agencies in Abbotsford, Burnaby, Langley, Surrey North and Richmond as well as the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) Family Respite Centre in Vancouver.

The six participating Nissan dealers include Abbotsford Nissan, Richmond Nissan, Southside Nissan, Morrey Nissan in Burnaby and Jonker Nissan and New Pacific Nissan in Surrey. Each dealer prepared one of the six vehicles for delivery and will service and maintain that vehicle as long as the agency has it.

Albert Mastromartino, president of the Nissan Canada Foundation, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, says there are approximately 55 Nissan vehicles on loan to service organizations across Canada, delivering meals and providing other services to seniors.

“We wouldn’t be able to run this program without the support of the dealers who act as our partners in this project,” Mastromartino said. “We all agree that this is a wonderful way to help out. The dealers are glad to have an opportunity to participate in their communities.”

More than half of the 55 Nissan vehicles in the project support seniors organizations, including Meals On Wheels agencies across the country, an elder-abuse organization in Quebec and the Canadian Hearing Society.

In addition, the Foundation helps to raise money for Toronto Homes for the Aged and 30 other agencies in Ontario through the Nissan Toronto Challenge, a marathon/walk-a-thon held annually in June.
