Richmond Hill, Ontario – Mazda has announced the launch of the all-new, second-generation 2010 Mazdaspeed3, which will go on sale in July starting at $32,995.
One of the fastest front-wheel drive cars available, the Mazdaspeed3 is based on the design of the Mazda3 Sport hatchback, but with Mazdaspeed-exclusive front and rear bumpers, front fenders, scooped hood, rear spoiler, interior trim and fabric. Available colours will be Velocity Red, Crystal White Pearl, Celestial Blue Mica and Black Mica.
The Mazdaspeed3 features a 2.3-litre turbocharged engine producing 263 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, a specially-designed six-speed manual transmission with wider gear ratios than before, with triple-cone synchronizers for first, second and third gears and a double-cone synchronizer for fourth gear, and special reinforcements for increased body stiffness. Modified spring rates, increased damping strength and larger-diameter stabilizers increase handling performance, along with improved steering response, electro-hydraulic power-assisted steering, electronic brake assist, and wider tires than before.
