2008 Saab Turbo X

Oshawa, Ontario – General Motors of Canada has announced pricing on the new, limited-edition 2008 Saab Turbo X 9-3, which will start at $54,995 for the Sport Sedan and $56,305 for the SportCombi wagon. The all-black model evokes the first black Saab 99 and 900 Turbos, while introducing Saab’s new “Cross Wheel Drive” system.

The Turbo X tops the new 9-3 range; it features a lowered chassis, optimized springs and dampers, 18-inch titanium-finish wheels, larger brake discs and premium leather interior.

Developed in Sweden with Haldex, the Saab XWD “Cross Wheel Drive” system includes pre-emptive engagement of the rear wheels to optimize traction at takeoff, and an active rear limited-slip differential which allows variable torque transfer between the rear wheels. The fully automatic on-demand system is capable of sending up to 100 per cent of engine torque to either the front or rear wheels when necessary, while maintaining five to ten per cent of torque to the rear wheels during highway cruising for better stability and increased fuel economy.
