Detroit, Michigan – The Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan, SportCombi and Convertible have all earned the 2008 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick Award in the midsize category.
The 9-3 Sport Sedan wins the top honour for the fourth consecutive year. It earned a Top Safety Pick Award in 2007, a Top Safety Pick Gold Award in 2006, and a Double Best Pick crash-testing rating for 2005.
The 9-3 Convertible also earned a top spot in 2007, the first year the IIHS tested convertibles. It is one of only two convertibles to earn the 2008 Top Safety Pick Award, and the only soft-top convertible to do so.
To earn a Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must earn the top “good” rating in front and side impact crash tests, along with top rating for its seat/head restraints, and offer electronic stability control.
