News service says incentive package helped sway Volkswagen

According to Reuters, Volkswagen’s upcoming crossover will be built in Chattanooga, and not built in Mexico, after politicians in Tennessee offered the German automaker a significant incentive package.

As part of the incentive package, Tennessee is offering “tax breaks, staff training, free land and infrastructure upgrades worth $300 million in total.”

While Volkswagen officials declined to comment, an official announcement is said to be forthcoming.

The new crossover will be a seven-seater vehicle and slot in, size wise, above the Touareg.
