Those looking for a hotter Kia Soul might be in luck
According to the folks at Motor Trend, the Kia Soul’s lacklustre performance may not be an issue for much longer as the Korean automaker is looking to give the box-on-wheels some extra oomph.
Turbocharging seems to be the easiest way to add some power to Kia’s funky hatchback by way of a heart transplant from the Forte Turbo. The 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 201 hp and 195 lb-ft, or 31 hp more than the 2.0-litre powered Soul.
MT says it will be available next year. We will just have to wait and see.
Another drivetrain feature requested by dealers since the Soul’s introduction has been all-wheel drive. While the current generation Soul isn’t engineered for such a setup, the next-generation looks to offer all-wheel drive as an option. To say this would do fantastic in northern climates is an understatement.
