Vancouver, British Columbia – A massive rockslide has closed a section of British Columbia’s “Sea to Sky” Highway 99 between Lions Bay and Furry Creek Bridge. The highway is the only direct route between Vancouver and Whistler, where the 2010 Winter Olympics will be held.
The slide occured Tuesday at 11 p.m. No injuries have been reported.
DriveBC reports an alternate route of Highway 99 North of Squamish through Lillooet, which connects with Caribou Highway 97. Motorists are asked to allow extra time, exercise caution and obey traffic control personnel. For updates, visit DriveBC.ca.
