Hiroshima, Japan – Mazda Motor Corporation has announced the launch of its refreshed RX-8 in Japan. The model features new styling, improved quality and better driving dynamics, and builds on the original RX-8 that debuted in Japan in 2003.
Exterior design features include larger air intakes, side marker lamps integrated with the headlight units, side air vents integrated with the turn signals, and LED lamps in the rear combination lights. Three new wheel designs include rotor-shaped motifs and the available 16-inch wheels have been upgraded to 17 inches. Inside, the new model includes better-quality cloth upholstery or perforated leather seats, power-adjustable seats with memory and a navigation system.
Powertrain improvements include new water and oil pumps and revised gear ratios in the six-speed manual transmission.
Mazda has also announced a new Type RS, which includes 19-inch forged aluminum wheels, Recaro bucket seats, Bilstein dampers and more aggressive styling.
