Quebec used car dealers form network to sell cars
Montreal, Quebec – The Corporation des concessionnaires d’automobiles du Québec (CCAQ) has officially launched Quebec’s largest network for selling used vehicles. Some 270 dealers in all regions of the province have joined forces under the brand name “Gold Series Pre-Owned”, and offer an inventory of more than 15,000 used vehicles.
A new web-site (www.occasionenor.com) provides access to a database of more than 15,000 vehicles. It is continually updated by the member dealers. “We know that more and more Quebecers use the Web when shopping for a vehicle. We wanted to provide them with a one-stop source where they will find comprehensive, accurate information, said Mr. André Gingras, manager of the new network.
To publicize the network, the dealers are launching an extensive and advertising campaign in the print and broadcast media. Michel Barrette, the well-known actor, comedian, radio and television host and-above all-car buff, has agreed to serve as the campaign’s official spokesperson. “Everyone knows I’m really into cars. I’ve bought more than a hundred of them in my lifetime. This campaign will allow me to tell people to beware of deals that seem too good to be true. I’ve gotten a few bad deals myself. We tend to get emotional when buying a car. When I shop at a dealership, I know the vehicle will be in perfect shape,” he said.
The number of used vehicles sold went from 1.9 million to more than 2.2 million in Canada between 2000 and 2003. The dealerships possess approximately 45% of this market. In Quebec, more than 500,000 used vehicles were sold in 2003. Quebec dealers hold about 40% of this market.
