Quebec technician wins Nissan Technical Excellence Contest

Mississauga, Ontario – Marc Cuillerier of Pelemon Nissan in Quebec City has been named this year’s winner of the Canadian portion of the Nissan International Service Technical Excellence Contest (NISTEC), held Saturday at Nissan Canada headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario. The competition recognizes levels of excellence of Infiniti and Nissan technicians.

Twelve finalists demonstrated their expertise in diagnosing and repairing “bugs”, or problems, previously installed on Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. The competition is held every two years, starting with a National Quiz; technicians registered in the Nissan XTRA dealer training program are sent a multiple-choice questionnaire, with the results determining who moves on to the next level. From there, 300 technicians take part in the Regional Quiz, and then the top 24 from each region participate in the Regional Hands-On Competition, which ultimately narrows candidates to four per region. These top twelve move on to the Canadian Hands-On Competition.

Cuillerier wins $1,000, plus a $3,000 tool gift certificate; he has been working for Nissan dealerships for 20 years and has competed in NISTEC seven times.
