Smyrna, Tennessee – Production of the all-new 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe has begun at the company’s plant in Smyrna, Tennessee. Based on the 2007 Altima sedan, the new coupe features a shorter wheelbase, overall length and height than the sedan.
“The Altima is an important car in the Nissan line-up, and the Altima Coupe is an important extension to the Nissan family,” says Wanda Fullerton, Manufacturing Senior Manager. “It’s a true coupe, and the majority of its sheet metal is all-new. We have taken a lot of actions to assure a high-quality launch, and we’re confident that we will build a vehicle that will provide a lot of value for our customers.”
The 2008 Altima Coupe features a 3.5-litre V6 or 2.5-litre inline four-cylinder, each offered with a six-speed manual transmission or Nissan’s Xtronic CVT continuously variable transmission. The new model is scheduled to go on sale May 25, 2007.
