Prius named official car of UN World Environment Day

Torrance, California – Dignitaries from around the globe will meet today in San Francisco for UN World Environment Day 2005, where the Toyota Prius will be recognized as the official car of the event and Toyota as the exclusive automotive sponsor.

World Environment Day, which will be held in the United States for the first time in its 33-year history, consists of special events focusing on urban environmental issues, while mayors from around the world meet for five days to create an accord for a sustainable urban future.

Toyota’s participation includes Prius displays throughout the city and sponsorship of the accord signing. In addition, members of the California Fuel Cell Partnership will test-drive Toyota’s experimental hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle.
