Power Information Network expands into Canada

Westlake Village, California – Power Information Network, LLC, which provides automotive solutions and services to dealerships and other companies in the automotive industry based on the collection and analysis of daily retail vehicle transaction data, has expanded its operations into Canada.

Dealerships in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver are already participating in the Power Information Network (PIN) program. PIN, an affiliate of J.D. Power and Associates, plans to begin enrolling dealerships in the Montreal market in early 2004.

PIN gathers more than 200 details from each vehicle purchase transaction that takes place at participating dealerships. Among details collected are vehicle model, colour, price, rebate and type of sale. The data is then aggregated, cleansed and analyzed to help dealers, manufacturers and financial institutions better align sales, marketing and product distribution strategies.

“Dealers use PIN’s PowerDealer Web portal to gather competitive information, such as which new and used vehicles are selling well in their market and at what price, along with very detailed information, such as whether consumers in their market area are leasing, financing or paying cash, what vehicles consumers are trading in when they purchase a new vehicle, and even top-selling colours,” said Tim Longnecker, chief executive officer of PIN. “We are confident that PIN will benefit the Canadian auto industry
