Porsche to update Cayenne for 2006

In the face of competition from other luxury SUV manufacturers, Porsche will be subtly restyling its high-performance Cayenne for the 2006 model year.

Reports are that the Cayenne’s front end will be heavily revised, with streamlined headlamps, more angular hood lines, a new front bumper with reshaped air intakes, and the removal of a thin grille on the bumper’s leading edge. A lower valance and extended fairings will meet pedestrian safety laws in Europe, which require vehicles with high ground clearance to provide protection against pedestrians being dragged under the vehicle if they are struck.

In rear, Cayenne will receive elongated taillights and a flatter tailgate. Inside, mild changes will include a gauge pod from the 911 and a less cluttered console.
