All signs point to an introduction in just over a year
Automotive News is reporting Porsche will see a diesel-powered Macan join the lineup between the S and Turbo models in just over a year’s time.
Speaking with AN, Porsche Cars North America VP Andre Oosthuizen stated, “We are now busy with the development and the engineering. I can confirm that V-6 diesel offering with about 245 hp.”
Oosthuizen later told AN the diesel Macan would run around $60,000.
When we inquired with Porsche Canada, Manager of Public Relations, Patrick St-Pierre simply stated, “Although we think the model would be a great addition to our lineup, we don’t have any firm plans at this time.”
Both the Macan S and Macan Turbo are powered by gasoline-fed twin-turbo 3.0- and 3.6-litre V6 engines. Diesel models of the Macan are available in other markets currently, including Sweden where the Macan failed “the elk test”.
