Stuttgart, Germany – Porsche will invest some €150 million in its Weissach research and development centre in Germany, adding a high-tech wind tunnel, design centre and electronics integration centre.
The technology implemented in the new wind tunnel will also meet future requirements on vehicle development and its increasing focus on energy efficiency.
“The new system will help us to maintain Porsche’s top position in the fields of aerodynamics and design and to further extend our lead,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, board of management member for research and development. “Outstanding design with optimal aerodynamic efficiency have always been classic Porsche strongholds.”
The centre will include areas for customer development projects, more space for Porsche designers, and a central electronics integration centre that will “bundle” the sub-areas that were previously scattered throughout several buildings.
Around 100 new engineers will be added to the centre in the first stage alone.
