Mississauga, Ontario – Porsche has announced its newest version of the Cayenne range, the race-inspired 2010 Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia. The new model will be revealed at the Paris Auto Show in October and go on sale in early spring 2009 in Canada with a starting price of $87,200.
The Cayenne S Transsyberia is based on the slightly modified Cayennes that won the Transsyberia Rally, an endurance race that covers over 7,100 km over two weeks each spring in Russia, Siberia and Mongolia.
With 21 units scheduled for Canada, the Cayenne S Transsyberia uses the 405-horsepower 4.8-litre V8 engine from the Cayenne GTS. A Tiptronic S six-speed automatic transmission with 4.11:1 final-drive ratio is standard. All models will be equipped with air suspension, Porsche Active Suspension Management, and permanent all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management, which divides the torque between front and rear with a 62 per cent rear bias for better on-road driving dynamics.
It will be available exclusively in four colour combinations and with contrasting-coloured 18-inch wheels, air intake vent fins, exterior mirror housings and roof spoiler.
