Mississauga, Ontario – Porsche has announced a new Boxster S Black Edition, featuring a ten-horsepower boost and long list of standard equipment. The new model, limited to just 987 units worldwide, follows on the heels of the recently-announced 911 Black Edition.
The Boxster S Black Edition uses a monochrome treatment of black body, black convertible top and painted black 19-inch Boxster Spyder design wheels. A Black Edition designation is embossed on the side of the fabric roof. Inside, the black theme continues, with aluminum and stainless steel used as accents. The instrument dials are also black in place of the usual white.
The black exterior and interior touches are part of the Design package available on other Boxster models. Standard on the Black Edition are the Comfort Package of bi-xenon lights, wind deflector, auto-dimming mirrors, rain sensor and automatic climate control, and Infotainment package of navigation, Bose surround sound system and satellite radio.
The 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine produces 320 horsepower, ten more than the Boxster S. A seven-speed PDK transmission and Sport Chrono package are available.
The Boxster S Black Edition will retail for $74,400. The company said that without accounting for the enhanced power output, a comparable Boxster S with these options would cost $3,500 more.
