Atlanta, Georgia – Porsche has announced the North American debut of its 911 GT3 RS, the most track-focused road-legal 911 to appear here since the 1973 Carrera RS. The new GT3 RS is expected in Spring, 2007.
Compared to the GT3, the rear of the RS is 44 mm wider, as it is based on the 911 Carrera 4 model, but is lighter than the GT3, thanks to carbon fibre components. It uses the 911 GT3’s 3.6-litre flat six, generating 415 horsepower at 7600 rpm, and will be available in standard black or Arctic Silver metallic paint, with optional brilliant orange or green finish. Prices will be announced closer to launch.
