Anaheim, Calif. – Pontiac yesterday announced plans to produce a new sport utility vehicle, the 2006 Pontiac Torrent, scheduled for introduction in fall 2005.
The Torrent will be powered by a 185 horsepower, 3.4-liter V-6 engine in either a front-wheel or all-wheel-drive system. Paired with that powertrain is a specially tuned suspension system that allows for the utility and capability of an SUV without sacrificing the precision handling characteristics normally associated with a performance car.
The first public showing of the Pontiac Torrent is scheduled for the Los Angeles Auto Show in January 2005. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
