Police will hold car seat clinic today in Toronto
Aurora, Ontario – A Child Seat Clinic will be held today, September 7, at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The clinic is sponsored by police and community groups.
Under a new law passed September 1st, it is mandatory for anyone transporting children to make sure they are properly secured in an infant seat, child seat or booster seat. The law applies to all drivers carrying children in the car, not just to the child’s parents. The Ontario Provincial Police, in a Labour Day long weekend traffic campaign, found over 90 per cent of car seats inspected were not properly installed.
Qualified technicians from four police services, Toronto Public Health, St. John’s Ambulance and CAA will be on hand at Yorkdale Mall, 3401 Dufferin Street (at Highway 401) to inspect child seats on a first-come, first-serve basis.
