Oakville, Ontario – Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada and #TAXI have again teamed up to remind Canadians to plan transportation to their Hallowe’en socials, house or bar costume parties.
“We ask that you plan your transportation to and from parties this weekend,” said Margaret Miller, MADD National President. “If you find that you have had too much, call #TAXI on any cellphone for an easy way to get a cab home. You don’t have to take your own vehicle. There are choices: taxis, public transit, or designated drivers. This Hallowe’en, we want people who are drinking to leave their cars at home, and call #TAXI to safely skulk from one haunt to another.”
Calling #TAXI (#-8-2-9-4) from a cellphone will connect you to the first available taxi company or the taxi company of your choice, with no busy signal, and for the same price or less than calling 411. For information, visit PoundTaxi.
Although there is no Canadian data, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that 44 per cent of all highway fatalities on Hallowe’en night involved a driver with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher.
