Pirelli increases North American production

Rome, Georgia – Tire manufacturer Pirelli has announced that, less than three years after production began at its first Modular Integrated Robotized System (MIRS) fully-automated production facility in North America, a fourth module has been added. This will bring the capacity of its Rome, Georgia facility to over 350,000 tires per year.

Although the facility can produce both passenger car and SUV tires, the new line will be dedicated primarily to Scorpion Zero, a performance SUV tire. The first production tire will be the 315/40R26 Scorpion Zero, introduced at the 2004 SEMA show in Las Vegas but previously produced only in Germany. The tire is suited for performance tuners working with the Hummer H2, allowing conversion within legal integrity of the vehicle.
