Ontario police step up cottage patrol
Toronto, Ontario – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has announced that this Labour Day weekend’s “Cottage Patrol” will be its largest to date, with Highway Ranger coverage now expanded to midnight each night. There will be more than double the number of officers staffing the patrol as on previous years.
The program has also been expanded onto all provincial highways in the Greater Toronto Area, as far south as the U.S. border at Fort Erie. In addition, the OPP now has participation with the Ministry of Transportation Enforcement Officers, helping to target and inspect unsafe vehicles on highways that lead to Ontario’s cottage country and are especially busy on the last long weekend of the summer.
