Ontario government to invest $100 million in transit improvement
Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario government has announced a $100
million investment to help fight gridlock by adding new GO trains and
buses, expanded GO tracks, a new transit terminal in Markham and six
new hybrid buses for Hamilton. The investment will kick-start the
MoveOntario 2020 plan.
MoveOntario 2020 will deliver 52 rapid transit projects, covering 902
km, at a cost of $17.5 billion. Construction begins next year, with 95
per cent of the plan to be completed by 2020.
The government will hold onto the site of the former OPP headquarters
at 90 Harbour Street in Toronto, pending evaluations whether it is the
best location for a new inter-regional bus terminal close to Union
