Ontario dealer group one of Canada’s 50 best-managed companies

Niagara Region, Ontario – The Performance Group of Automotive Companies was named a winner in Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies Program for 2003. The award is sponsored by Deloitte & Touche, CIBC, National Post, and Queen’s School of Business. Established in 1993, the 50 Best awards is a national program, which recognizes Canadian companies that have implemented world-class best business practices and created value in innovative ways.

Over 12,000 companies across Canada were nominated for this award, and previous winners were invited to re-submit their applications to qualify again.

The Performance Group of Automotive Companies was founded in 1964 by St. Catharines businessmen Cam Champion and John Mann. The company has six dealerships-Performance Acura; Performance BMW; Performance Cars Mercedes-Benz; Performance Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep; Performance Hyundai; and Performance Lexus-Toyota-as well as Performance Auto Spa, Performance Collision & Glass Centre, Performance Leaseline, and Performance Vehicle Rental Inc., o/a Thrifty Car Rental. The Performance Group employs more than 270 full- and part-time people.

A sponsor of many community activities, the Performance Group focuses on supporting charitable and not-for-profit groups that rely on transportation for the delivery of their services. In December 2003, the Performance Group provided Meals on Wheels Thorold & St. Catharines with a
Dodge Caravan.
