New subcompact gets new Mazda KODO corporate face
Contrary to rumours the new Mazda2 would be a softer design, the Japanese automaker has released its first batch of photos of the new aggressively-styled subcompact along with a few details as it enters production in Japan.
Called the Demio in Japan, the Mazda2 will receive 1.3-litre SKYACTIV-G gasoline four-cylinder and SKYACTIV-D 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engines in its home market. Engines for North America were not announced.
However, the new model will receive additional equipment, including MAZDA CONNECT (in the same style as the Mazda3 with a propped-up screen on the dash) and i-ACTIVESENSE safety technologies.
Expect the new model to go on sale at the beginning of 2015.
