Aluminum pickup wins Truck Rodeo event sponsored by Steel Marketing Development Institute
October might mean the emergence of pumpkin spice and turkey dinners for many of us in Canada. But, in Texas, October brings with it the Texas Auto Writers Association Truck Rodeo along with the coveted “Truck of Texas” award.
This year’s testing brought automotive journalists again to Knibble Ranch outside of San Antonio to test a selection of trucks and SUVs for the 2014 awards.
It should be no surprise who took home the buckled cowboy hat: the new all-aluminum 2015 Ford F-150.
Ford has won the most “Truck of Texas” awards since 2007, with the Ram 1500 (and diesel variant) coming away with a couple of awards in the same timeframe.
Other award winners for 2014 included 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee for “SUV of Texas” and 2015 Lincoln MKC for “CUV of Texas”.
(Editor’s Note: Two other awards, “Compact CUV of Texas” and “Compact Luxury SUV of Texas” went to the 2015 Hond (sic) CR-V Touring and 2015 Land RoverRange (sic) Rover Evoque 5 door. The 2015 Ran (sic) 2500 Longhorn took “Heavy Duty Pickup of Texas”. I’ve never heard of any of these vehicles. You can see for yourself here.)
