Hanoi, Vietnam – Nissan has announced that it will begin vehicle production in Vietnam for local sales, with the first models to be launched by 2010.
The vehicles will be assembled by Vietnam Motors Corporation, an existing automotive assembler, and will be distributed by NVL, a joint venture of Nissan Motor Company in Japan and Kjaer Group A/S of Denmark. Guidance and quality control will be provided by engineers from Nissan in Japan.
“Vietnam is a strategic market for Nissan with tremendous opportunities,” said Shinya Hannya, vice-president of planning for Asia and Oceania marketing and sales. “We are aiming for strengthening our market presence in Vietnam as well as in other fast-emerging countries. The offering of locally assembled products will accelerate our business in Vietnam and lay the foundation for further growth.”
