Nissan North America to build Suzuki pickup truck

Nashville, Tennessee – Nissan North America Inc. has announced that it will build a midsize pickup truck for Suzuki Motor Corporation. The truck will be based on the Nissan Frontier and be built at Nissan’s plant in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Production will begin in 2008; the vehicle will be solely marketed by Suzuki in North America. The announcement is part of an agreement signed by Nissan and Suzuki in 2006 to expand the scope of their business collaboration.

The agreement also includes the Serena minivan, which Nissan will supply to Suzuki for sale in Japan.
