Tokyo, Japan – Nissan Motor Company has announced that it will participate in only four major international auto shows in fiscal year 2009, limiting its displays to New York, Shanghai and Tokyo in 2009, and Geneva in 2010.
The company did not have a display at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2009, but did participate in the Montreal and Toronto shows in January and February.
Nissan said that its decision is a short-term action and may change based on economic conditions facing the industry and consumers. The company also said that participation in regional and local-market shows is subject to review and approval by its regional management.
Nissan will introduce nine new vehicles worldwide during fiscal year 2009 by leveraging a mix of traditional methods such as auto shows, as well as new and innovative strategies and tactics.
