New Delhi, India – Nissan Motor India Private Limited has announced the launch of the luxury Teana sedan in India. The Teana is the second model to be launched in India, following the X-Trail in 2004. In March, Nissan announced its intention to set up a manufacturing facility in Chennai, together with Renault and local manufacturer Mahindra.
“When we decided to launch our second vehicle, we wanted to take advantage of the growing luxury segment,” says Yoshie Motohiro, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. “Our research showed that the Indian customers’ expectation of a luxury vehicle matches what Teana offers. We are confident that the Nissan Teana will meet the demand of the Indian customers and that the people here will love this sedan.”
The vehicle will be imported from Nissan’s Kyushu Plant in Japan. It features a 2.3-litre V6 gasoline engine, chrome grille, integrated fog lights, leather and wood trim and long wheelbase. Due to Indian road conditions, the Japanese vehicle has been modified with leather seats instead of suede, a visible dual exhaust pipe and a 10 mm higher ride height. The Teana will go on sale from this month.
