Nissan celebrates export of Tiida to Europe

Aguascalientes, Mexico – Nissan Mexicana celebrated the beginning of exports of the Tiida (sold as the Versa in North America) to Europe on Monday. The ceremony took place in the port of Veracruz, next to the ship that is taking 600 of the vehicles to Europe. During 2007, the first year of exports, some 12,000 Tiida units will be sent to Europe.

The Tiida model is the latest addition to Nissan’s line of models in Europe, following the recent launch of the Qashqai crossover. In sedan and hatchback versions, and with gasoline and diesel engines, the Tiida will be distributed in the Baltic countries, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Malta, Poland, Rumania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Ukraine. The company says it hopes that sales in Europe will reach an average of 30,000 units a year during the vehicle’s lifespan.
