Nissan announces details of new North American headquarters

Franklin, Tennessee – Nissan North America Inc. has announced construction details of its future headquarters, which will be located in the Cool Springs area of Franklin, Tennessee. The development represents an investment of more than US$100 million.

“From this location, Nissan expects to realize significant new operational synergies,” says Carlos Ghosn, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. President and CEO. “Taking cross-functional teamwork to a higher level will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of all of Nissan’s North American operations, while offering employees more possibilities for personal growth and career development.”

The facility is slated for completion in mid-2008; the company’s headquarters will function in interim facilities in Nashville, Tennessee until the new building is complete. The company is currently moving its headquarters out of Gardena, California, with more than 42 per cent of headquarters employees and more than 45 per cent of professional, managerial and executive employees choosing to relocate to Nashville.

At its announcement ceremony, Nissan also said that it will donate US$200,000 to the newly-established Math and Science High School of Tennessee. The institution will be a public high school where students study a specialized curriculum built around science and mathematics.
